E-10 Airport Interchange and Airport Region Road Network

CRTC Consultancy have been apointed by Habtoor Leighton Group (HLG) to carry out the Traffic Management Plans of the Airport Interchange and Airport Region Road Network project.

Project Description

The Airport Interchange and Airport Region Road Network project in Abu Dhabi comprises the construction of approxiately 16 km of new cariageway (one traffic lane) as the road widening of the E-10 highway, 27 km of new roads, including unidirectional ramps and CD Roads together with dual three (3) lane roads.

The scope includes:

Widening of the E-10 Highway by the addition of one (1) traffic lane on each carriageway
A new interchange serving the new Abu Dhabi Airport
Secondary Roads
CD Roads
Utility bidges
Drainage works
Utility culverts
Street lighting works
Intelligent Traffic System (ITS) works

Role of CRTC Consultants

CRTC Consultants has been appointed by Habtoor Leighton Group (HLG) / Leighton Contracting (Abu Dhabi) for the Consultancy Services for Traffic Management Plans in relation to Airport Interchange and Airport Region Road Network (E-10).

Scope of Works

As a Sub-Consultant CRTC has carried out the following tasks:

Gathered Count Data from Client and Authorities Conducted fresh traffic counts
Reviewed and validated Traffic Counts
Conducted Level of Service (LoS) Analyses for the existing condition
Completed trip distribution & assignment for different Traffic Management Plans (TMPs) (All proposed scenarios)
Conducted LoS Analyses for all scenarios
Developed findings and recommendation
Liaised with Client and Authorities (DOT, ADM & Police)
Obtained approvals related to the conducted study.

Traffic Management Plans / Schemes:

Coordinated with Contractors and Authorities
Developed different management schemes limited to 3 options
Developed Traffic Management Stages during constructions (sections)
Signed and marked as per Control Device Manual
Temporary Pavement Design and Plans
Obtained Necessary Approvals
Reviewed the safety components of the approved Traffic Management Plan
